DETAILED ITINERARY

PHNOM PENH ARRIVAL (–/–/D)

Day 1

 

Upon arrive at Phnom Penh pick up and transfer to local restaurant for lunch.

Independence Monument was inaugurated in November 9, 1962 to celebrate Cambodia’s independence from foreign rule. And continue to the National Garden Park. Late afternoon, Enjoy a 1 hour boat cruise on the Mekong River and runs up the Tonlesap River along the central riverfront area providing a picturesque view of

the Royal Palace, National Museum, park and Phnom Penh skyline, and then across the Tonlesap and up the Mekong River to view floating fishing village.

Dinner will be at local restaurant & overnight at hotel in Phnom Penh.

Day 2

 

Breakfast will be at hotel.

In the morning, we will visit Royal Place, built by King Norodom in 1866 on the site of

the old town, and the Silver Pagoda, Raung Damrei Museum. The Palace building and Silver Pagoda are located with in the same walled ground. The Silver Pagoda is so named because of its floor, which is made up of 5000 silver tiles. The treasures include a solid gold Buddha encrusted and weighing 90 kilos and a small 17th century emerald and baccarat crystal Buddha. And then move to National Museum of Fine Arts, next to the Royal Palce was dedicated by king Sisowath in 1920. Over 5000 objects are on display including Angkorian era statues, lingas and other artifacts, most notabley the legentary statue of the “Leper King” Though the emphasis is on Angkorian artifacts, there is also a good collection of pieces from later periods, including a special exhibition pf post-Angkorian Buddha figures. Then visit Wat Phnom, a small hill crowned by an active wat (pagoda) marks the legendary founding place of the Phnom Penh.

In the afternoon, we will visit Notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975 Tuol Svay Prey

High School was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). It soon became the largest such center of detention and torture in the country. More than 17.000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeung Ek to be executed; detainees who died during torture were buried in mass graves in the prison ground. The museum displays include room after room of these photographs of men, women and children covering the walls from floor to ceiling; virtually all the people pictured were later killed.

Continue to visit Kiling Field of Cheung Ek is situated 15 kilometers south-west of Phnom Penh and made famous by the film of the same name "Killing Field". it was a place where more than 17,000 civilians were killed and buried in mass graves; many of them transported here after detention and torture in Toul Sleng. This place is a chilling reminder of the brutalities of the genocidal Khmer Rouge regime. In the center of the area is a 17 story glass stupa which houses 8000 skulls exhumed from mass graves.

PHNOM PENH - DRIVE TO SIEM REAP (B/–/-)

Day 3

 

Breakfast will be at hotel.

This morning, we drive to Siem Reap by National Road No. 6 via Kandal Province,

Kampong Cham Province and Kampong Thom Province with 314 km distance and we will take around 5 to 6 hrs.

En route will stop at a part of Kompong Cham Province called Skun " Spider Village "

The town well-known for selling deep-fride spiders to traveler who stop by on their way.

And then you will pass Kompong Thom Province, you will see a Village called Samnak

Village’s stone sculptors carving out their giant Buddhas. The craftsmen use rocks

from Phnom Santuk’s foothills to craft spectacular statues of all shapes and sizes.  After lunch we will continue to Siem Reap. Before reach Siem Reap we will see Spean Preah Toeus or Kampong Kdei Ancient BridgeKampong Kdei Bridge with its original name as Spean Preah Toeus (ស្ពា នព្រះទិស – The bridge of Indication) is the best laterite-built bridge of Angkor era which is survived until today.

The bridge is located on the main highway of national road no.6 from Kampong Thom to Siem Reap and it used to carry all kinds of transportation of the main highway. In 1965, the bridge has been restored by Bernard Philippe Groslier. Nowadays, Kampong Kdei Bridge is still in good condition, however, the main highway has been diverted since a 1.3 km bypass and a new bridge has been built. Now it’s crossing by villagers who travel by motorbikes and bicycles only. Arrive Siem Reap transfer to hotel for check in.

In the afternoon, we will visit Les Artisans D’ Angkor and see their stone and wood

carving workshops where the artisans are taught to use traditional Khmer techniques. In line with its mission to produce fine Arts & Crafts objects, Artisans d’Angkor has set up a silver plated workshop in order to demonstrate this know-how and encourage the revival of this Cambodian heritage. Wood and stone carving, The art of stone carving goes back to the glorious epoch of the Khmer empire and its monumental constructions that gave rise to the Angkor temples. Like the work of craftsmen from previous centuries, stone carving is done on sandstone. Artisans d’Angkor mainly uses sandstone from Siem Reap province. Next visit the Old Market where you can see the fresh local produce being sold as well as browse the souvenir stalls.

SIEM REAP - ANGKOR TEMPLES (B/–/-)

Day 4

In the morning, we will visit the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk) the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century) and visit Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara),the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King and visit the fabulous Ta Prohm Temple, embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees. Ta Prohm (pronunciation: prasat taprohm) is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries and originally called Rajavihara. Located approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray, it was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university.

Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm is in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor's most popular temples with visitors.

UNESCO inscribed Ta Prohm on the World Heritage List in 1992. Today, it is one of the

most visited complexes in Cambodia’s Angkor region. The conservation and restoration of Ta Prohm is a partnership project of the Archaeological Survey of India and the APSARA (Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap).

In the afternoon, Wat Thmei (New Wat) The wat contains a unique glass-walled stupa

containing the bones of victims of the Khmer Rouge. Some of the bones were recovered from a nearby well while others are the remains of soldiers who died on a nearby battlefield. 500m west of the road to Angkor about 1.5km north of town. Then continue to visit the 7th world heritage, Angkor Wat a unique and stunning blend of spirituality and symmetry, an enduring example of man's devotion to his Gods. It is the largest and undoubtedly the most breath taking of the monuments of Angkor and it is widely believed that it is the largest religious structure in the world until sunset.

SIEM REAP - FLY TO SAIGON CITY TOUR (B/-/–)

Day 5

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Then catch your flight to Saigon.

After checking in the hotel, the city tour begins at the War Remnants Museum, a really famous spot in Saigon. Here, you can learn about how the Vietnamese fought for their freedom and peace during the Vietnam War. The museum shows weapons, documents, and photos that prove what happened during the war and how brave the Vietnamese people were.

Next, we'll head to the Reunification Palace, which saw the end of the tough Vietnam War in 1975. Now, it's a museum and a place where important meetings happen. Nearby, you'll see the Notre Dame Cathedral (just from the outside) and the Central Post Office, both well-known places in the city.

Late afternoon, we'll visit the lively Ben Thanh Market in District 1. Enjoying shopping time there.

SAIGON - MEKONG DELTA - CAN THO (B/L/-)

Day 6

 

Depart from Saigon and head straight to Ben Tre (90 km ~ 2 hours drive), crossing the impressive Rach Mieu cable-stayed bridge. On arrival board a small boat to visit typical workplaces including small brick factories, a coconut processing workshop and a local mat-weaving house.

Stop at a quiet village, take a short walk to witness local life and hop on a xe-lôi (a kind of motorized rickshaw) to reach acharming local restaurant. After lunch, rest on the hammock or short cycling ride to explore the surrounding fields before boarding a sampan for a tranquil trip along the picturesque canals. Come back to the port and visit Ben Tre local market before heading to Can Tho.

MEKONG DELTA - SAIGON - FLY TO HUE (B/L/-)

Day 7

 

Check out early morning then cruising  along the Mekong River to Cai Rang floating market before heading up to a quitet canal for a short bike ride along countruside paths to enjoy the peaceful scenesof paddy filed, the monkey bridges or walkthrouogh the farms and houses of a nearby village to see fragrant tropical fruit orchards and pause for a cup of tea with locals. Lunch break then drive to a Khmer pagoda. Then return to Saigon. Catch your flight to Hue. On arrival, our driver will take you to the hotel in Hue.

Day 8

 

08:00AM: After breakfast, you will meet our tour guide and driver at the lobby. We will drive to visit Dong Ba market to get into the busy life of locals. Then take a boat trip to Thien Mu Pagoda - the oldest pagoda in Hue city, and enjoy the peace here.

Continue to see Hue Imperial Citadel - The home of Vietnam's last royal dynasty, the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 - 1945)

Then, we will visit Hue Royal Antiques Museum - A collection of ornaments from the Nguyen dynasty.

In the afternoon, we will visit an incense stick village to see how Hue people do incense stick and listen to the story of cultural feature indispensable in the thinking of Vietnamese

Then, transfer to Minh Mang tomb -  a reflection of the Chinese architectural concepts, recommended sightseeing by its monuments, statues, gardens and especially the bridge over a Lake of lotus flowers which gives access to the Imperial Minh Mang tomb.

And wrap your day with The Nguyen Emperor Khai Dinh's Royal Tomb - a unique tomb among the royal tombs in Hue, Vietnam. Where other royal tombs are expansive and invite respectful reflection, Khai Dinh built his final resting place to be monumental in style and bombastic in execution. Then return to the hotel.

HUE - DRIVE TO DANANG - MARBLE MOUNTAIN (B/-/-)

Day 9

Breakfast at your hotel.

9AM pick up at your hotel in Hue and drive to Danang. Arrive Danang at noon. After check-in your hotel in Danang and have lunch, head out for Marble Mountain (Ngu Hanh Son), climb Thuy Son (‘Water’ Mountain) by the stone stairs and enjoy the panoramic view of the nearby countryside, and visit Huyen Khong cave before entering Tam Thai and Linh Ung pagodas where you will be rewarded by great city views and amazed by the main cave which houses a beautiful Cham Buddha sitting under a natural shaft of light. Rest at the foot of the mountain, where you can visit Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, where the local skillful sculptors create many marble products which are exported to many countries worldwide. Then return to your hotel.

Day 10

You will be picked up at the hotel and cross the river Thu Bon for about 15 minutes by a shuttle and reach the first spot Kim Bong carpenter’s village. In this village, you can drop in the shipbuilding workshop, wood carving, mosaic and other workshops.

Move to the next destination – Tra Nhieu Mat Village, have a brief introduction of the war history and their activities.

Continue sightseeing along the river, have a glimpse of coconut water, fishing net and wild birds. Then stroll on a quiet bamboo bridge in water coconut forest. Pay a visit to the craft mats making

Back to the dock and go on the boat. After that, take a bicycle trip to Tra Que Vegetable Village.

The local farmer delivers the cultivation methods and the way to protect developing vegetable from the insects. Take part in gardening acivites with the farmers such as: raking the ground, sowing, watering greens, transplanting and tending greens.

Take a rest and have a foot bath. By using a mix of local herbs remedy and Chinese traditional medicine, the foot bath can prevent aches, pains and rheumatism.

Prepare lunch with a local family. You will learn how to make “Tam Huu” spring roll, “Xeo” pancake. Your lunch will consist of many local delicacies including “Tam Huu” spring roll, “Banh Xeo” or local pancake of people in Centre of Viet Nam.

After that, you will be taken to the Hoi An ancient town for a walking tour. Hoi An was the center of national trade in the 16th century so you can admire the diversity of ancient streets and homes. Stroll around the unique and magnificent cobblestone alleys and have a glimpse of the Chinese houses that have existed for the hundreds of years. During the leisurely tour, you will have a wonderful opportunity to view historic homes constructed in French, European, Japanese, and Chinese architectural styles. When it comes to Hoi An, you should definitely visit the 100-year-old Japanese Bridge, the Phuc Kien Hall, and the local fish market, among other amazing locations. You may also drop in a store that specializes in custom clothing to purchase your preferred items.

Starting at 8:30 AM, our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel. Begin by visiting the Tran Quoc Pagoda, a serene site nestled along the shores of West Lake. From there, transfer to the Ho Chi Minh complex, where you'll explore the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the revered final resting place of Uncle Ho (President Ho Chi Minh), and his stilt house, where he lived between 1958 and 1969. Move on to the distinctive One Pillar Pagoda, an architectural gem in the middle of a square lake. The journey continues to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first college dedicated to Confucian principles.

In the afternoon, choose one of the city's museums for further exploration, including options like the History Museum, Ethnology Museum, or the historically significant Hoa Lo Prison, once famously known as the "Hanoi Hilton." Return to the downtown area for a break by Hoan Kiem Lake. Wrap up the day with a cyclo tour through the Old Quarter, renowned as the 36 streets. This lively district is home to countless small businesses and shops, providing ample opportunities for exploration and capturing memorable photographs.

6:00-6:30: Begin the day full of energy with the Tai Chi session and enjoy the sun just rising up beyond the horizon. 

6:15 -7:00: Have breakfast. Morning view of bay’s landscape with a cup of tea or coffee.

7:00:  You will join the tour of Cat Ba World Biosphere Tender boat. It takes 30 minutes to transfer from Gia Luan to Trung Trang – one of the most impressive caves in Cat Ba island, Vietnam by car transfer. The limestone cave has thousands of stalactites in various shapes, offering geological values with a typical cave ecosystem.

9:30: Back to Gia Luan Habor by bus transfer, then our tender boat drops you off to the main boat, you can have a quick showing packing your luggages and check carefully all the belongings before checking out your cabin.

10:00: Check-out from the private cabin and enjoy a fantastic cruise on the bay for room service. Complete check-out procedure. Enjoy lunch at the restaurant while the cruise is returning to the harbour.

11:00: You take the Tender boat back to Tuan Chau port. Return to Hanoi
